Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Exibran collects when you use exibran.com, why, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have.
Who we are
Exibran is a business name registered in Nigeria and owned by Michael Zacs as a sole proprietor ("Exibran", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at chat@exibran.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Free check requests: your product name, website address and email address, so we can send you the result.
- Emails you send us: your name, email address and anything you choose to include.
- Newsletter: your email address (and name, if you give it) when you subscribe.
- Paid services: your name, business details, contact details, project information and billing details needed to deliver the work and get paid.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics (only if you accept cookies): Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity record how the site is used, such as pages visited, time on page, clicks and scrolling, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location based on your IP address. Clarity may record anonymised session replays. We use this to understand what readers find useful and where the site is confusing.
- Security and server logs: our host, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Error and broken link records: if a page fails or you land on an address that does not exist, we record the page address, the site that linked to it, the error message and your browser type, so we can fix it. We do not use these records to identify you.
- Bot protection: our forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is sending the form.
Information kept only on your device
Some features save small notes in your own browser (local storage) and never send them to us: your light or dark theme choice, your cookie choice, and any text you highlight while reading. You can remove them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
How we use your information and why
- To answer your requests and messages, and to deliver free checks and paid services (to take steps you asked for, or to perform a contract with you).
- To send the newsletter you subscribed to (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
- To measure and improve the site with analytics (your consent, given through the cookie notice).
- To keep the site secure, fix errors and prevent abuse (our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website).
- To keep business and tax records and meet legal obligations (legal obligation).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Cookies and similar technologies
- Necessary: local storage for your theme, cookie choice and highlights. These do not track you and do not need consent.
- Analytics (optional): Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga) and Microsoft Clarity cookies (such as _clck and _clsk). These are only set after you click Accept in the cookie notice.
- Security: Cloudflare may set cookies needed to protect the site and its forms.
- Affiliate partners: if you click an affiliate link and visit another company's website, that company may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
You can change your mind at any time: clear this site's cookies and data in your browser and the cookie notice will ask you again.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Exibran, and only as much as they need:
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security, email routing and bot protection.
- Google: Google Analytics (with your consent) and Gmail, which we use for email.
- Microsoft: Clarity analytics (with your consent).
- GitHub: stores the website's content and code. It does not receive visitor data from the site.
- Email newsletter provider: to store subscriber lists and send emails, once the newsletter is running.
- Payment providers: to process payments for paid services.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business.
International transfers
Some of these providers store or process data outside Nigeria, for example in the United States or the European Union. When that happens we rely on the providers' contractual commitments and security measures to keep your information protected to the standard required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, where it applies, the GDPR.
How long we keep it
- Free check requests and emails: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless you become a client.
- Client and billing records: as long as needed for the work and then for the period required by tax and accounting law.
- Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.
- Error and broken link records: about 14 days.
- Analytics data: according to the retention settings in Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (typically 14 months or less).
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and the GDPR or UK GDPR where they apply to you, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- send your information to you or another organisation in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier use.
To use any of these rights, email chat@exibran.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) or the data protection authority where you live.
Security
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to accounts to protect your information. No method of storage or transfer is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will tell you and the relevant authority about a serious breach where the law requires it.
Children
Exibran is for business owners and professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other websites
The site links to other websites, including affiliate partners. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site and the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on the site.
